Welcome to The SWIFT Clinic.
We're a team of Social Workers and Family Therapists aiming to provide support to separated families and families engaged in the family law court system by providing Family Therapy in our private practice.

About Us
Who we are
We understand that parenting after separation is challenging, and for those engaged in the family law system this can add additional complications. We work with individuals, families, and separated couples who are navigating parenting after separation and seeking to do what's in the best interest of their children through a stressful and difficult time.​

We offer a family therapy package that runs within the NSW school term dates. This comprises of 8 x 60min sessions of therapy across the 4-8 weeks with a combination of individual, parent-child, or family sessions. There are extension packs for larger families or where additional extended family members might be included.
We always start with a SWIFT Assessment which includes 3 x 75min intake sessions: one with each parent, and one with the child/ren. Following this, a one page document with recommendations is provided which may include recommendations for ongoing therapy.
If continuing, the Family Therapy pack is then tailored to suit your particular families needs, and may include individual, parent-child, sibling, or whole family sessions.

Following the completion of the therapy package, we provide an attendance certificate to each party. The attendance certificate outlines when each party and the child/ren have attended sessions.

SWIFT Family Therapy
The SWIFT Packages
​
The SWIFT packages are chosen based on the number of parties and the number of other family members involved in either self-directed or court-ordered therapy. Each package includes a certain number of 60min sessions, that occur across 4-8 weeks at The SWIFT Clinic, located in the T&G Building in Newcastle.

The cost of the packages may be paid by one party,
or shared between the two parties involved.

The SWIFT Assessment

Before commencing with either of the SWIFT therapy packs, we start by completing The SWIFT Assessment. ​This Assessment includes 3 x 75-90min intake and assessment sessions:

The SWIFT Assessment allows our therapists to further understand family dynamics and the unique situation experienced within your family system. It provides an opportunity to have some therapeutic input and allows us to consider collaborative goals across all parties that may be used in the ongoing family therapy packs.

Following completion of The SWIFT Assessment, a one page document with SWIFT Recommendations is provided to both parties within two weeks of completing the sessions. This may include recommendations for ongoing family therapy or provide alternate options if this is not deemed suitable or appropriate.
The SWIFT Base Pack
​
The SWIFT Base pack is the package available when there are two parties involved, with a maximum of six family members.
It includes 8 x sessions of inclusive family therapy.
Following completion of The SWIFT Assessment, if The SWIFT Base Pack is recommended, this would include a tailored plan for you and your family for 8 therapy sessions. This usually includes a combination of sessions with each parent individually, the child/ren on their own, or the child/ren with a parent. We take into consideration the age of the children, current and relevant court orders, and feedback from the children and both parties to determine the best plan.

Following completion of The SWIFT Base Pack, a one page letter with SWIFT Recommendations is provided to both parties, alongside a certificate of attendance, within four weeks of completing the therapy pack. This may include a brief summary of the therapy, as well as any potential recommendations for ongoing support.
The Solo SWIFT Pack

The SWIFT Solo pack is the package available when only one party is engaging in therapy with the child/ren, with a maximum of four family members. It includes 6 x sessions of family therapy.
​
Following completion of The SWIFT Assessment, if The SWIFT Base Pack is recommended, this would include a tailored plan for you and your family for 8 therapy sessions. This usually includes a combination of sessions with each parent individually, the child/ren on their own, or the child/ren with a parent. We take into consideration the age of the children, current and relevant court orders, and feedback from the children and both parties to determine the best plan.

Following completion of The Solo SWIFT Pack, a one page letter with SWIFT Recommendations is provided to both parties, alongside a certificate of attendance, within four weeks of completing the therapy pack. This may include a brief summary of the therapy, as well as any potential recommendations for ongoing support.

We ask that each parent complete the enquiry form separately. Following this, someone from our team will give you a call to speak further about the process and answer any questions. If continuing, we will then email an information pack, including intake forms, to each person and make a plan for setting up the initial assessment sessions.
